Fake Problems - Spurs and Spoke/Watching the Bull Catch the Matador

This album is a combination of their first two ep's re-released on Sabot Productions. The lead singer reminds me of a younger Tom Gabel. Fake Problems plays punk music with a country twang to it. They have a really energetic live show and I would not be surprised if they got offers from major record labels in the near future. Their new full-length "How Far Our Bodies Go" is a bit more polished but good nonetheless.

New Mexican Disaster Squad / Western Addiction

Both of these bands are throwbacks to the 80's when hardcore was alive and well. There are 3 orginal songs and one cover song contributed by each band. New Mexican Disaster Squad covered FVK by Bad Brains and Western Addiction covered Rat Patrol by Naked Raygun. (Western Addiction's bassist/vocalist Chicken is also in Dead to Me and was in the now defunct One Man Army.)

Jackie-O Motherfucker - Fig. 5

Jackie-O Motherfucker was formed in 1994 by Tom Greenwood and Nester Bucket layering guitars and sax over hand cut analog tape loops and collage, collections of found sound, field recordings, cut-up classic rock, hip-hop beats and 4-tracked drones. Assembled and processed, the band rehearsed often in the basement of an abandoned drug store on Mississippi St. in North Portland. The first live performances featured an amplified reel to reel tape machine and electric guitar while additions of live percussion, 8-track tapes, alto sax, and a turntable filled out the sound. Many of the performances of this time were done to provide a live musical score for shadow puppet theatre.

All Spare Change releases are within the price range of 5$-free. Most of Johnny Hobo's songs are about drugs, alcohol, apathy, and depression. This is folk punk at its best. http://www.mediafire.com/?4lt9yjjdciy
