"Step In The Arena"- Gang Starr

All I have to say is...If you don't own this album DOWNLOAD it now.. On the first listen you may not be that amazed but after a few listens it will sink in.. Gang Starr are one of the dopest hip-hop groups of all time.. DJ Premier is a fucking legend on the wheelz of steel and Guru is God/Allah himself on the mic...One of the innovators of jazzy hip-hop and always paving the way for the way an east coast rap record is susposed to sound..It is one of my top 3 Gang Starr albums (Basically all of them are classics besides the first one)

"The Fix"-Scarface

Possibly his most commerically sounding album.. It is still great.. "On My Block" is the fucking craziest fucking song..One thing interesting about this album is the fact both Jay-Z and Nas are guests on it and it was at the height of their feud (2002) when the album was released. And a young Kanye West producing some tracks... The 2nd to last album to get 5 mics in the source but I won't give it that high of a rating mainly because there are too many rnb tracks for my taste and I feel as though he has two other albums that are better than this.. I have to put this up though cause most of this is straight fire..

1. The Fix
2. Safe

"AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted/Kill At Will EP"-Ice Cube

This album is genius..After leaving N.W.A... Ice Cube had Public Enemy's Bomb Squad produce much of this album and shaved off his famous jheri curls and later converted to Islam to start his solo career off with a bang..Every track is fierce and some of the beats are a little goofy..The album was orginally critized for the heavy amount of sexism displayed(the word "bitch" being used over 80 times), however, it is one of gangsta rap's defining albums and can be touched by few other albums..The last 7 tracks are the Kill At Will EP...Its bananas

1. Better Off Dead

"Straight Outta Compton"- N.W.A

I know it may seem dumb I'm putting this album since most people on this site probably have this but if anyone doesn't have it, they should download it now..This is what started gangsta rap..I remember when I saw Ice Cube live he said that he wants people to credit Boogie Down Productions for the first gangsta rap album (Criminal Minded) but to me this is really where it started.. On Criminal Minded, BDP rarely curses or talks about women. It does not even have a parental advisory on the cover.. However, there is a ton of cursing on here and a very liberal use of "bitch" which wasn't common in 1987 in hip-hop..To me "I Ain't The 1" embodies hip-hop's view on women and it is perfect that Ice Cube does it alone.. The last 4 tracks were added in the 2003 reissue.

1. Straight Outta Compton
2. Fuck Tha Police
3. Gangsta Gangsta
4. If It Ain't Ruff
5. Parental Discretion 12 Advised

"Reasonable Doubt" Jay-Z

Now before I begin, I know theres a lot of Jay-Z haters in the building (Sirus and Jasper *cough cough*...*giggles...you guys are still great) but this is one of the best hip-hop albums ever made..Before Jay-Z sold out to commercializm and starting aiming for more club and pop records, he recorded this album which is more in the form of Ready To Die or Illmatic but with a more polished unique feel..I remember feeling so refreshed buying this album sophmore year and listening to a young hungry Jay-Z on the mic..I get happy everytime I listen to this album because once it grew on me I couldn't stop listening to it.

"Me Against The World"-2Pac

To keep up with my 2pac theme I thought this would be perfect..This is a very misunderstood album imo and I've noticed it either gets great scores from reviewers ( 5 Mics in the source and 5/5 stars on allmusicguide.com) or medicore scores from reviewers... To me this is the most personal album 2pac has ever recorded...It took a lot of balls to record a record like "Dear Mama" for a gangsta rapper in the mid-90s.. I love this album also because the title embodies my mindset every morning when I wake up *giggles..Dope as hell but there are a couple songs that can be considered fillers until multiple listens..

1. Intro
2. If I Die 2Night
3. Me Against The World

2Pac's most political album...It also is a versatile album.. For example on "I Get Around" the song is about 2pac being a player yet on "Keep Ya Head Up" it is completley about respecting women..He also disses Dan Quayle a number of times on this...Definitley a must for any Pac fan.

http://www.mediafire.com/?b4s1y5nnxug
This is a very odd album..In my opinion you either think this album is an absolute classic or can't get into it..It took me a few listens to get into it because there are a lot of rnb influenced songs and a lot of anger on this album..The thing that makes this album crazy to me is that it was all made in 7 days( Lyrics written in 3 days and production took 4)..20 Songs were completed but only 12 made the final album..There also are very little rapping guests on this album which is very suprising after the release of All Eyez On Me..Still an album that is great imo..

1. Intro / Bomb First (My Second Reply)
2. Hail Mary
3. Toss It Up
4. To Live And Die In L.A.

"Death Certificate"- Ice Cube

I recently started closely listening to this album for the first time and came to the realization that I like this more than any Cube album (Including AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted)..Although it does not have any of his big hits to speak of (unless you consider "My Summer Vacation" among them) it is still one of the dopest concept albums ever created in the history of hip-hop..This is his angriest, possibly most political, and can be considered most racist album made by him... Still it is straight bananas and has a lot of humorous themes mixed in within a lot of very serious issues..Also a very dope album cover (Uncle Sam= dead) *giggles

"Doe Or Die"-AZ

I uploaded his newest album a few months ago which was a decent album. Although that was a decent album, AZ's debut album "Doe Or Die" (released in 1995) is on a different level. The album is often compared to Nas' Illmatic which is unfair since that is one of the 3 best hip hop albums ever to be made. However, it is very similar. Nas contributes a couple great tracks ("Mo Money, Mo Murder (Homicide)", "Gimme Your's") and there is some laid back rnb vibes incorporated(" Sugar Hill") and he tries to seperate himself from other rappers ("Rather Unique"). Lyrically it is hard to catch how great he is on first listen especially since his voice is a little odd but he is lyrically amazing. Definitley one of the best mafioso rap albums to come out of the 1990's. This will definitley grow on you.
